We are interested in characterizing pathomechanisms of inflammatory diseases and cancer. The link between metabolic and inflammatory processes and the respective signal transduction pathways are of special interest. The main focus is laid on RNA-binding proteins and non-coding RNAs.
Therefore, we use cell-based and molecular biology methods as well as in vivo animal models and human tissues. These experimental approaches help to decipher molecular mechanisms and to identify new therapeutic targets.
Infrastructure
Abberior Stedycon confocal microscope with four confocal channels and one STED channel (red) with resolution down to 30 nm.
If you are interested in using this service, please send a brief inquiry to pharmakologie(at)pharmazie.uni-halle.de. After an initial consultation, training may be provided if necessary.
Terms of Use for STED Microscope
Scope of Application
These terms govern the principles for using the STED microscope.
Responsible: Prof. Dr. S. Keßler
Administrative contacts: PD Dr. F. Erdmann, J. Hirschfeld
Location of the device: Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Kurt-Mothes-Str. 3, 4th floor, room 406, 06120 Halle (Saale)
In principle, all members of MLU have access to the device. Non-university users can be granted access upon request and approval.
Preparation / implementation / follow-up of experiments
It is necessary to discuss the content and objective of an experiment with the administrative contact person in advance.Assistance with project planning can be offered.Training in the use of the device and software as well as radiation protection instruction is mandatory.Users prepare their samples themselves in their laboratories.Only fixed material may be used. All users must fill out a registration form with their name, email address, telephone number, the name of the project manager, and a brief description of the project. The data will not be shared with third parties.
In the event of damage to the device by a user, that user may be denied access.
Scheduling
Appointments for equipment use must be booked via an online booking schedule (Google Calendar).
Bookings for use must be made at least one week in advance. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled use.
The access code will only be issued after an initial consultation with an administrative contact person and instruction.
Billing of any follow-up costs
Costs for repairs or additional hardware/software modules will be distributed among the individual working groups according to their share of usage.
User regulations
1. The use of equipment is documented by an entry in the logbook and must be countersigned by the users in the log sheet. Missing entries do not result in the cancellation of the proportionate costs for repairs or subsequent purchases.
2. Users undertake to use and operate the equipment in accordance with the specified rules. Training and detailed basic protocols for equipment use will be provided. If problems arise during use of the equipment, users must notify the administrative staff immediately. Users are also obliged to leave the equipment as they found it and to avoid or immediately remove any biological or chemical contamination and notify an administrative contact person. The equipment must be switched off after use.
3. Access to the equipment may be denied, e.g., in the event of necessary maintenance work.
4. Repeated violations of the terms of use will result in denial of access.
5. User data must be stored as assigned. Data that is not stored properly will be deleted during maintenance work. Data will be stored for at least six months. It is recommended that data be stored externally immediately.
